State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R–Shelby Township) announced the passage of House Bill 4524, which aims to update and clarify Michigan’s Marketable Record Title Act. The legislation is intended to make property records more reliable by clearly defining what qualifies as an effective preservation of an interest in land.

According to Wozniak, the changes will reduce confusion during property transactions and assist real estate professionals in serving Michigan families. He stated, “This legislation ensures Michigan’s land records are accurate, reliable, and easier to navigate. Homeownership is one of the most important investments a family can make, and our laws should give people confidence in their property rights. By strengthening the Marketable Record Title Act, we’re helping to protect homeowners while making real estate transactions more straightforward.”

The new rules are expected to help minimize disputes related to property ownership and streamline the process for both buyers and sellers in Michigan.
