State Representative Doug Wozniak of Shelby Township has acknowledged National Flag Week in Michigan. He addressed the House Floor to recognize the week from June 8 to June 14 for this purpose.
“Over the years, the American flag has flown during both tough times and great victories,” said Wozniak. “It’s been a sign of strength, courage, and unity for generations of Americans here at home and around the world.”
Flag Day is celebrated annually on June 14 to commemorate the adoption of the first official flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
“National Flag Week gives us a moment to honor not just the flag, but all the people who defend and serve our country—our veterans, service members, public servants, and everyday citizens who live out the values our flag represents,” stated Wozniak. “Let’s use this week as a chance to teach our kids, connect with our communities, and show our pride in being American.”
