State Representative Doug Wozniak has announced the approval of a bill package by the House, which allows Michigan to join the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact. This compact facilitates professional mobility and improves access to care across state borders by permitting licensed occupational therapists to practice in other member states without obtaining additional licenses.

Wozniak expressed his support for the compact, stating, “The adoption of this Compact is a strong step forward for the economic vitality of the Great Lakes and Midwest region.” He emphasized that reducing barriers to professional licensure, especially in fields like occupational therapy, allows qualified professionals greater ease in living and working across state lines. According to Wozniak, this increased mobility not only enhances economic activity but also makes the region more appealing for professionals seeking long-term stability.

The legislative package, comprising House Bills 4103 and 4104, will now move to the Michigan Senate for further review.
