Sixteen local restaurants are in the running for best housemade macaroni and cheese in Macomb County. And starting today, March 17, the public will get to decide who is the ultimate winner.
The second annual Mac Madness: Best Mac in the Mac, an initiative of the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development (MCPED), launched earlier this month with a request for local restaurants to submit their best noodle dish. Entrants have now been matched in a head-to-head, bracket style vote that launched today, Thursday, March 17, on the Make Macomb Your Home website.
“We’ve got some great made-from-scratch macaroni and cheese dishes in the running this year,” said Vicky Rowinski, director, MCPED. “So now is the time to get out and do a personal taste test. Show some love to our local restaurants and help us find Macomb County’s Big Cheese!”
Members of the public will get to vote once per round. The voting schedule includes:
- Sweet 16 – Voting opens March 17; closes March 19 at 8 p.m.
- Elite 8 – Voting opens March 21 at Noon; closes March 23 at 8 p.m.
- Final 4 – Voting opens March 25 at Noon; closes March 27 at 8 p.m.
- Championship Round – March 30 at Noon, closes April 1 at 8 p.m.
- A $2,500 grant from Macomb County
- The Mac Madness: Best Mac in the Mac plaque
- Bragging rights for the year
The public is encouraged to get out and taste test entries from participating restaurants ahead of the vote. Find those restaurants, and additional details and information, at https://living.macombgov.org/Living-Mac-Madness.
