Michigan Convention of States has issued the following press release:

America is changing—that fact is undeniable. So how much change will we accept? What freedoms are we okay with losing? If the answer is none, what are we willing to do to keep them?

For those willing to fight for their freedoms, please join the Michigan Convention of States (MI COS)for a special town hall meeting on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. Bill Pacey—the State Grassroots Coordinator for MI COS—will lead the meeting at the Clinton Macomb Public Library. The Macomb County Commissioner and Macomb County Clerk have been invited for this free presentation, discussion, and Q&A about the Convention of States Project. Macomb residents are encouraged to attend and ask questions of their elected representatives, not only about COS, but of other concerns as well.

When: Thursday, Aug. 26, 7p.m.

Where: Clinton Macomb Public Library*, 40900 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Township, MI, 48038

Article V of the US Constitution grants state legislatures the right to propose and ratify amendments to the Constitution. Convention of States Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating citizens about Article V, helping legislatures draft Article-V-related resolutions, and confronting federal overreach through grassroots organization. These goals, along with preserving our God-given freedoms, is what propelled Pacey to his current position as the State Grassroots Coordinator.

Pacey firmly believes that “if you are not educated, you are not engaged.” The acquisition of knowledge—education—leads directly to engagement—recognizing government overreach and then doing something about it. No one but you can choose to pursue education, but patriots like Pacey, organizations like COS, and events like the upcoming town hall can help you once you make that decision. As Pacey says, “the more educated we are as citizens, the more able we are able to combat the enemy [government officials working against the interest of the people] and those warring against the vision our founders had. We need to become educated as citizens of America.”

As a U.S. Navy veteran, Pacey has firsthand knowledge regarding the effects of socialism, communism, and totalitarianism—government systems that oppress individual rights and freedoms. Every new federal regulation, each taxpayer dollar spent, and every election cycle that passes with no real change in congressional leadership takes America one step closer to these restrictive, centralized political systems.

The Convention of States organization aims to reverse this descent into tyranny by 1) giving stolen power back to the states, 2) making common-sense restrictions to federal spending, and 3) imposing federal term limits on congressional members and supreme court justices.

Pacey views his involvement in COS as an extension of the oath he sore to protect the nation from enemies, both foreign and domestic. For Pacey, the battles currently raging between We the People and our federal government over our rights and freedoms are far worse than the battles he fought during the Vietnam War.

Today, Pacey considers himself an incredibly free man; he is fighting to protect and preserve that freedom for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and every other current and future American.

If you feel compelled to join this mission, a great first step is signing the petition to call a Convention of States. Your name indicates your support for the MI State Legislature to pass COS’s resolution for  a convention. So far, 15 states have adopted this resolution. Thirty-four states need to adopt the resolution to call a convention, and 38 states need to ratify any proposed amendment for it to be added to the Constitution.

Pacey believes that the way back to the America he knows and loves is through education, sacrifice, and developing a personal relationship with God. He says, “the founders had a relationship with God that created this great nation. If we do not start with the root—if we don’t get back to the root—than we can’t get back to America...as we turn back to God, the political awakening will take care of itself.”

If you’re ready for this political awakening, take the plunge and educate yourself. Engage and take action. Commit to developing your relationship with God—whatever form that may take—and saving America, the land of the free and the home of endless opportunity for all.
