City of Eastpointe issued the following announcement on Sept. 29
The first Monday of each month the DPW yard will be open from 7:00am to 7:00pm for Eastpointe residents to get rid of household debris. Proof of residency is required. Starting July 6, 2020 the city offers "Long Monday" at the Department of Public Works, 17800 10 Mile.
Items accepted include: used motor oil, dirt, blocks, concrete, rocks, wood, metal, car parts, non-refrigerant appliances and brush. Empty paints cans are also accepted (use kitty litter or "oil dry" material to absorb any leftover wet paint still in the can). Up to two used tires per resident will also be accepted.
Used mattresses must be wrapped prior to being taken to DPW.
Items not accepted include: hazardous materials such as fuel, fuel containers, containers of wet paint, paint thinners, household cleaners, and radioactive materials such as smoke detectors.
Long Monday will also be held on August 3, September 14, October 5 and November 2, 2020.
The Department of Public Works will no longer have an "open yard day" on Saturday in the month of May.
