State Representative Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) has expressed his support for a bipartisan legislative package aimed at increasing Michigan’s investment in advanced nuclear and hydrogen energy. The set of bills, known as House Bills 4124-4129, proposes new tax incentives, education grants, and workforce development initiatives to promote innovation and secure the state’s energy future.

“This plan is about planning ahead and making sure Michigan has the energy infrastructure it needs to stay strong and self-reliant,” said Wozniak. “Advanced nuclear energy gives us the opportunity to provide reliable, carbon-free power without driving up costs for families or businesses. I want Michigan to be a place where we can power our economy responsibly, protect our environment, and keep energy affordable for everyone.”

The proposed legislation includes targeted tax credits for research and development related to small modular reactors and clean hydrogen production. It also establishes grant programs designed to support education and workforce training within Michigan’s expanding energy sector.

“Michigan has always been a state of innovators and builders and our approach to energy should be no different,” Wozniak stated. “By embracing advanced nuclear technology, we can create high-quality jobs, modernize our power grid, and secure a cleaner, more reliable energy future for the next generation. This is a smart, forward-looking investment in Michigan’s long-term success.”
