Memphis Community Schools welcomed 738 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 738 students enrolled in Memphis Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.4% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.4% of them were girls, and 49.6% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 93.9% of the Memphis Community Schools total enrollment.

Memphis Community Schools covers two schools within Macomb County with its main office in Memphis. Among them, Memphis Junior/Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 409 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
