A Message from the Superintendent

04da3785 c415 4e2e 81c0 85295006f30b

Chippewa Valley Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.

We know the 2020-2021 school year was challenging for everyone. Our trusted routines and time-honored traditions were altered as we endured a year impacted by a pandemic. My typical year is marked by events and activities that are meaningful to me: attending sporting events and music productions, visiting classrooms, and hosting in-person parent meetings, etc. Having been your superintendent for ten years, these things regularly fill my calendar and I look forward to them.

This year, for the most part, they did not happen. It was no different for our parents. Our parents know when parent-teacher conferences will occur, holiday musicals, PTO events, field days, and all the numerous activities that fill their calendars on a consistent, predictable basis. Unfortunately, many of these in-person activities did not occur. Regardless of the challenges we have overcome, we cannot overlook the accomplishments of our students. In this issue of The Vision we celebrate the Class of 2021, and particularly those who graduated Summa Cum Laude (G.P.A. above 3.9).

It is impressive that 162 students graduated with this designation while 437 of our high school seniors graduated with a G.P.A. of 3.5 and above. These students, regardless of a pandemic, continued to strive, learn, and grow to achieve success. These students persevered as they were involved in a variety of high-level courses that challenged them in new ways. Our 1,200 graduates from our two comprehensive high schools and one alternative high school are ready to move forward with their education. They are ready to transition to adulthood and the many unique roles they will play as contributing members of our society.

As young people they have learned skills they may not have developed had they not been faced with such adversity. If there is a silver lining in this disruption, this is it. I am proud of the partnership that Chippewa Valley Schools has with you, our community. Together we have created the conditions necessary for these young people to graduate from high school well prepared to enter the next phase of their lives. I am excited to see what their futures hold. I know it will be impressive.

As always, it is an honor to serve as your superintendent.
