As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will use your excellent communication, organization, diesel tech, and multitasking skills to engage with the instructional staff, management team, and leadership to ensure that the institution can execute its weekly training needs by maintaining and preparing the institutional fleet. The goal of this position is to not only ensure that the institution can execute its weekly training needs, but also to maintain good morale among your team, and keep our students happy by limiting training delays due to equipment breakdowns or availability.
You will also play an integral role in ongoing professional development sessions to improve instructional staff knowledge of vehicle maintenance to ensure that our highly skilled workforce is able to meet student expectations and assist in the upkeep of the institutional fleet.
Job Responsibilities:
● Coordinate, schedule, and audit vehicle maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to tractors, trucks and trailers.
● Prioritize and schedule work to meet institutional and student needs.
● Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of the institution’s assets
● Control repair, inventory, and labor costs.
● Monitor and record repairs to each vehicle.
● Mentor instructional staff members to increase their knowledge regarding vehicle maintenance & repair.
● Manage facilities, assuring a clean and safe working & training environment - this includes plowing, salting, grading, and general maintenance of the training grounds. Additionally, the fleet maintenance manager will be responsible for plowing, salting, and maintaining all parking areas, and walkways.
● Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies including but not limited to salt, yard materials, and various equipment.
● Open the facility each morning and prepare the vehicles per the training schedule. This includes starting, pre-tripping, and staging vehicles into the appropriate training position.
● Manage registrations and insurance on all vehicles.
● Maintain building maintenance
● Notify leadership & management of any changes to vehicle repair schedules or vehicle availability.
● Identify vehicles for purchase, lease, or to rent.
● Assist, recommend, and coordinate the disposal of obsolete equipment.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Preferred:
● 3-5 years of fleet maintenance management experience preferred, or at least 3 years of team management in an environment with strong operational metrics.
● Associates or Tech School degree preferred
Required:
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Strong customer service and organizational skills required
● Valid driver’s license required
● Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web-based applications preferred
