April is the “Month of the Military Child” – a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. April was established as the Month of the Military Child in 1986 by Defense Secretary, Caspar Weinberger.
Michigan 4-H Military Family Program is honoring local military families and children with a fun, new game. Complete missions, connect with other youth around the state and learn more about the military through participation in the popular “Original Scavenger Hunt App.” Participants do not need to be in 4-H or have any previous military knowledge to play.
Interested individuals can register here and download the GooseChase app for free. Compete with others for points and prizes by posting text, photos and videos. Prizes will be awarded for high points, creative submissions and random drawings. The first 50 registrations by March 28 will receive a free National 4-H STEM kit. Each week will feature different themes and new missions.

- (April 15 is Purple Up Day)
- Week 3 (Monday, April 18 - Sunday, April 24) - Space Force utilizing 4-H STEM kits
- Week 4 (Monday, April 25 - Friday, April 30) - Careers in the Military
- May 4, 2022 - Virtual Showcase and Celebration, 6:30PM EST
- Grand prize winners announced, contest slideshow, connect with 4-H, military resources
