Judge Biernat Reappointed as Chief Judge

Macomb County issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

The Michigan Supreme Court has reappointed Judge James M. Biernat, Jr. as Chief Judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit, Macomb County Probate, and 42nd District Courts. During his tenure as Chief, Judge Biernat has overseen the completion of a multi-year, multimillion dollar campus renovation project, an expansion of the Court's efiling capabilities, and the creation of a new OWI/Sobriety Court and Family Dependency Court. 

He has also navigated the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic while safely maintaining court operations Looking to the future, Chief Judge Biernat hopes to build on existing momentum to further expand the Court's technology initiatives and continue to increase the accessibility of the Court system for all litigants.
