Macomb County Clerk-Rod issued the following announcement on July 16.
Today, the Macomb County Election Department took delivery of a shipment of personal protective equipment (PPE) to be used by local communities for the August 4, 2020 election.
The shipment contained hand sanitizer, surface disinfectant, masks, gloves, and face shields which were separated into bundles for polling locations and AV counting boards throughout Macomb County.
The acquisition and delivery was coordinated by the Michigan Secretary of State's Bureau of Elections. In order to provide this equipment, the state utilized available funding provided to Michigan by the federal CARES Act.
"True to Michigan's system of elections which involves cooperation and coordination between municipal, county, and state offices, this is a cooperative effort to protect the health of voters and election workers alike," said Macomb County Clerk Fred Miller. "These efforts to keep people safe, along with the new right for all Michigan voters to vote at home via absentee ballot, will help make sure that everyone has a chance to participate in the pivotal elections on August 4 and November 3, 2020."
