MACOMB COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH: MSU Extension to Provide Free Online Workshop Series for Diabetes Self-Management

Macomb County Department of Health issued the following announcement on June 26.

MSU-E has announced a free online workshop for diabetes self-management. The Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) Program is a six-week, online series designed for people living with diabetes. Family members, friends and caregivers are also encouraged to attend the workshop.

The free program, offered by Michigan State University Extension, will take place live online via Zoom beginning Thursday, July 9 through August 13 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. (six consecutive Thursdays). Interested individuals must register by July 6.

The program has six sessions that helps participants learn strategies to:

  • Prevent diabetes symptoms and hyper/hypoglycemia
  • Develop a healthy eating and exercise plan
  • Deal with difficult emotions
  • Set personal goals
  • Problem solve
  • Use a variety of other self-management tools to manage diabetes
Participants can join with a cell phone, computer, tablet, or other device using Zoom and will receive the Zoom link and password after registration.
