According to Rasmussen University not only is there an increasing demand for computer-science related jobs, the salaries are twice as much as the national average. Statistics like this inspired Macomb County Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) to offer a new 4-H Clovers C.O.D.E. (Creating Opportunities Designed for Everyone) program, which will take place on July 19, 20, and 21 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Cairns Community Center (58 Orchard Street) in Mount Clemens.
The free program will introduce basic components of computer science and encourage participants to continue to pursue computer science in the future. Courses will use Apple iPads, equipment and Everyone Can Code curriculum to create an engaging educational experience for ages 12 through 16 that allows for exploration of basic coding languages and experimentation with robotics. Coding experience is not required for participants. Skills such as leadership and communication are included within the activities as well.
