The Senior Center gym wing in Sterling Heights will be closed from April 27 through May 3 for scheduled floor repairs and resurfacing, according to an announcement on Apr. 13. The closure is planned during a break in fitness programming to minimize disruption for patrons.
The affected areas include the gym, walking track, cardio room, and the gym-side entrance and desk, which will be closed due to maintenance-related fumes. During this period, the Senior Center will close daily at 5 p.m.
Patrons are encouraged to use alternative options while repairs are underway. These include access to the walking track at the Community Center for Senior Center members and outdoor fitness opportunities at the city’s outdoor fitness park. Residents can also participate in other drop-in programs offered by the city.
Upon reopening, visitors may notice a temporary odor from resurfacing materials; officials say this is normal and will dissipate over time. City representatives thanked residents for their patience as improvements are completed.
