State Representative Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) has announced the upcoming reconstruction of Schoenherr Road in Macomb County. The project will focus on the section between 23 Mile Road and 26 Mile Road, aiming to address congestion, improve safety, and replace aging roadways and bridge infrastructure.
The planned improvements include widening the road from two lanes to three, with a center turn lane and two through lanes. Additional right turn lanes will be added at high-traffic entrances. The project also includes upgrades to drainage systems, new storm sewers, curb and gutter installations, and updated pavement markings.
“We’ve been waiting on this for years,” said Wozniak. “Schoenherr Road has needed this investment for a long time, and I’m thrilled to see it moving forward. This will be a major improvement for Macomb County by improving traffic flow, safety, and making daily travel better for residents and businesses.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 with Phase 1 covering the stretch from 23 Mile Road to 25 Mile Road. Phase 2 will follow in 2029, extending the work from 25 Mile Road to 26 Mile Road.
Further details about the project can be found on the Schoenherr Road reconstruction project page.
