Registration is now open for the 11th annual Sprint and Splash Festival of Races presented by Henry Ford Macomb Hospital at Lake St. Clair Metropark. The event, which promotes and celebrates Lake St. Clair, will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

“We started this event 11 years ago to showcase one of our county’s beautiful natural assets – Lake St. Clair,” said Amanda Minaudo, program director for Macomb County Planning and Economic Development. “And every year since, this family friendly race has grown, with more participants and more competitive events. From running to kayaking to paddleboarding, there’s something for everyone.”

Individuals interested in participating in Sprint and Splash are encouraged to sign up online here. All participants will receive a finisher medal, swag bag and custom pint glass. Prices will increase on Monday, June 13, but currently, pricing is:.

  • 5K Run: $35
  • Duathlon Individual: $40
  • Duathlon Relay: $70
  • 2 Mile Paddle: $35

Organizers are currently planning to have music, food and craft beer at the event.

“Our breakfast and beer tent provides a great opportunity for participants to gather after the races and take in the surroundings,” Minaudo said. “Hosting Sprint and Splash at the Metropark gives us a beautiful backdrop and attendees get to enjoy the fantastic views and breeze coming off the lake.”

Sponsorship opportunities for Sprint and Splash are available. Funds raised will go towards the Huron-Clinton Metroparks, whose mission is to provide critical support to sustain all 13 metroparks and to enrich the lives of the citizens and environment of southeast Michigan. Sponsor details can be found here. For any questions, please contact Amanda Minaudo at Amanda.minaudo@macombgov.org.
